You may recall Soraya Rosado, the Corozal woman and sell proclaimed “lifelong PUP” who turned on her party and her Area Representative Vildo Marin after she claimed he failed to deliver land that she paid for. Her story blew up a week before the February general election and certainly contributed to the four term representative’s first defeat at the polls in February. But Soraya Rosado is not satisfied to leave it at that. She is part of a group of about 20 people who still haven’t gotten their title after paying Marin’s committee for pieces of land in what’s called the Rodney Moguel Development in Corozal.
They held a meeting with Marin’s replacement and cousin, UDP Standard Bearer Pablo Marin on Friday at the Town Hall, the same place from which they had gotten many bogus receipts in past years. Rosado told us why she’s still angry and what they plan to do next.
Soraya Rosado,
“Several people paid monies to the ex-Hon. Vildo Marin and many people did not get any title for their parcel of land that was paid so they are concerned about what will take place now if this government will honor their payments but obviously it seems that most of these people pay to a committee under the Minister so that’s the reason why we have met here today.
We want our monies back. I for one I got my title but I paid $5,000 for a piece of property worth $1,500. And the other people, many have paid $5,000 to $6,000 and some of them have nothing but a receipt that’s not valued anything in government department.
About 20 persons were present today and from that 20 we have collected signatures and receipts, copies of receipts, and we will proceed with a lawsuit.”
There are about 90 persons who bought into the Rodney Moguel Development and 20 attended the meeting.
