And while the UDP’s internal politics is in a state of warfare, gunplay continues in the streets. Today residents on Ebony Street were eating lunch when gunshots rang out. At least three shots were fired and one man was injured in his hand. A resident who spoke to us off camera told us what she heard and what she saw.

Area Resident, Heard Gunshots
“I was sitting down eating dinner at my door and I just heard the gunshots and I dropped my plate of dinner and when I looked out I saw that one young man got shot and the next one run.”

Keith Swift,
How many shots did you hear?

Area Resident,
“About three to four.”

Keith Swift,
Where was he shot?

Area Resident,
“He got shot on his hand but the next one run, I didn’t know him any way. I just know the one who got shot, he got shot in his hand.”

Keith Swift,
I think I heard you say you were eating and you dropped your plate of food?

Area Resident,
“Yes because I peeped through my window and it is right there it happened so what else would I do. It shocked me yes. If you noh must shock you if you’re eating and you hear gunshots. Two weeks ago there were gunshots right here at the gate when they shot this little boy Warren, that’s all.”

Residents say the shooting victim is Osman Mitchell Jr. who was transported to the KHMH. A police mobile was quick to respond and officers were able to detain a suspect and recover weapon.
