Twenty five year old San Ignacio resident Willie Aguirre was shot and killed. That is the result of a post mortem conducted on the body on Tuesday. Around eleven that morning, Cayo Police were called out to a farm on the San Antonio Road. They discovered the badly decomposed body about one hundred yards off the road in some bushes. According to authorities they did not observe anything at the scene that tells them Willie Aguirre was killed there. They strongly suspect he was murdered elsewhere and his body was then dumped on the farm land.

Chief Police Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran examined the body and told 7NEWS that he found only one gunshot wound. The victim had been shot to right side of his head and the bullet exited through the left. Dr. Estradabran also believes Willie Aguirre was killed between august twenty first and august twenty second.

The police say at this time they have no motive but are looking for one person they believe can assist them in the investigation. 7NEWS understands that on August twenty first a family member went by the police station to file a missing person report. The information is that family member became concerned when Willie Aguirre failed to return home. The family member reported to the police that the last time they saw Willie Aguirre was on August fourteenth when he left home and told them that he was going to watch a football game.

And a family in Sarteneja hopes that their missing person report will not end up like that case in Cayo. Tonight twenty eight year old Ronnie Alamilla’s family wants to know where he is. The report is that around eight on Tuesday night Alamilla left his home to go somewhere unknown within the village in the north eastern Corozal District. He was last seen three hours later but at that time it appeared as all was well and there was no need for concern.

But Ronnie Alamilla never returned home and has not been seen since. Villagers immediately launched a search and made a discovery that has Corozal police trying to determine if something terrible may have happened. This morning, the group visited a farm two miles south of Sarteneja village and came upon a fire that appeared to contain burning flesh. The police were called out to the location to determine if the remains were human or animal.

Today Corozal police confirmed to 7NEWS that human remains were being burned. They are now treating the case as a homicide. They were unable to say if the human remains are Ronnie Alamilla’s. Tests are now being conducted to determine an identity. In the meantime they are advising anyone who can assist in the investigation to please call the nearest police station.
