On June 2, 2007 well known Belizean sculptor Curl Gordon was accused of having sex with a thirteen year old north side Belize City student. Today Curl Gordon who is now fifty years old is out of jail a free man. That is because the minor told the court today that she did not want to proceed with the matter. The child was accompanied by her mother who told the court that she wants the case to proceed but without the main witness having to testify in court. With that, the prosecution had no choice but to declare a nolle prosequi.
Initial investigations reveal that it was the child’s mother who caught her daughter and Curl Gordon in the act inside his home and reported it to police. But while Curl Gordon walked out of the courtroom a free man he was cautioned that at anytime he can be brought back if the prosecution gets the victim to testify against him. Reliable sources tell 7NEWS that the minor’s mother and the accused had a relationship in the past.
In 2007, Gordon was acquitted of an indecent assault charge that involved a seventeen year old young woman.
