And another man whose name is much mentioned in crime news is Darren Banks. He is detained for yesterday’s broad daylight shooting on Central American Boulevard. 27 year old Richard Russell told police that at 11:30 yesterday morning, he was on Central American Boulevard near the Bandag Tyre Factory walking alongside Luscious and Lexus Meyers who were on bicycles.
Russell told police he was walking across the median when he saw Darren Banks pull up in a green car and parked. Russell claims that a clear skinned man then got out of Banks car with a gun and started chasing him, firing at him multiple times as he dashed past the corn tortilla factory into a yard. The gunman gave up and Russell escaped without injury.
But police moved swiftly to detain Banks and have the name of another suspect who they believe was the gunman. Banks was expected to appear in Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, but tonight, he remains detained pending charges. Police tonight confirmed that he will be taken to court on Monday for attempted murder.
Now, here’s some history on this one. The same Richard Russell was shot on August first. It happened near Shell 1-Stop Gas Station which is about 300 feet from where he was attacked yesterday. And who was accused? If you guessed Darren Banks, you got it right. At that time, Banks was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and was remanded, but later got out on bail.
