But the real concern tonight is more rain. The full forecast, which you’ll see in a minute, predicts rain right through to Sunday- the result of a passing tropical wave. The Mopan River is expected to continue to rise, affecting Succotz Village and those communities downstream.
In the north, the Rio Hondo and the New River remain at flood stage and levels at Douglas, San Antonio, San Roman and San Victor villages continue to rise.
In the west, the Macal River at Chalillo is reported to be falling – though it is still above the spillway. In San Ignacio, it is also falling, but is still 13 feet above the temporary bridge. The level is steady at Iguana Creek and we’ll show you how that looks later on.
On the Crooked Tree Lagoon the hydrology office reports that the level is five feet above the causeway and rising rapidly. River levels near St Paul's, Willows Bank, Double Head Cabbage, Bermudian Landing, Flowers Bank, Isabella Bank, Rancho Dolores and Lemonal continue to rise. Similarly, levels near Maypen and Double Run 2 are just below the Mitch stage and continue to rise.
