And in other news, he is only 15 years old but (Shaquille) Shakeel “Gapo” Jones is in jail for murder. As we’ve been reporting, Jones is fingered as the gunman who shot and killed 29 year old Jermaine Trapp and critically wounded 18 year old Cameron Blease on Christmas night on Newtown Barracks in the area of the Princess Hotel.
Police say it was Jones, armed with a gun, who was chasing Cameron Blease. Blease jumped into Trapp’s Toyota Camry since he was driving past at the time. Trapp was shot in his head and died 24 hours later. Cameron Blease who was shot three times remains critically wounded in the KHMH. He is still on a life support machine.
Shakeel Jones was arraigned in court on Tuesday evening and remanded to prison. It is believed the shooting was retaliation for an incident in July when Blease allegedly opened fire on Sibun Street – injuring one woman and grazing a BDF soldier’s face.
