At twelve thirty five on January first, the first baby for the New Year was delivered at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Because her parents have not yet given their baby girl a name for the time being we are going to call her little princess. Little princess weighed in at six pounds and five ounces. Today 7NEWS visited with the proud parents at the KHMH as they were about to take their first newborn home. According to twenty two year old Oretha Young she wanted a daughter and after some four hours of intense labour pain she got her wish.

Jacqueline Godwin,
Did you expect to have the first baby of the year?

Oretha Young, New Mother
“Maybe.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Why maybe, that was the due date given to you?

Oretha Young,
“No.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
So when the pains started and you started looking at the time, did you start to say well I might bring this baby in the New Year?

Oretha Young,
“Yeah.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
What was the delivery like, painful or okay? It is your first child.

Oretha Young,
“Pain.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
How long were you in labour pain?

Oretha Young,
“Hmm I came from like after 8 until 12 o’clock.”

Both mother and daughter are doing fine. Little Princess is expected to be given a name by next week. Following our visit to the KHMH, the proud parents Oretha Young and Mario Estrada left with their baby daughter and a gift basket presented to them by Santiago Castillo Limited.
