Ernest Raymond Jr., the son of former Chief Education Officer Ernest Raymond Sr. is in jail tonight because he was allegedly busted with an unlicensed firearm on Friday evening. Police say that around 6 pm on Friday January 2nd they found a 9 milimeter gun inside a car Raymond was driving. He was taken to court this morning for arraignment this morning but the case was delayed since his attorney Dickie Bradley told Magistrate Ed Usher that his client does have a license to carry a 9 milimeter gun. But it turns he didn’t have a license to carry the 9 milimeter gun he was allegedly busted with.

The firearm reportedly belongs to a special constable – Wayne Samuels. This afternoon Raymond was arraigned for keeping an unlicensed firearm. Bail was not an option because it is a firearm offense and so Raymond was remanded to prison until February 2nd.

Ernest Raymond Jr. is an associate of the Coye family, charged on Friday for money laundering. No less than the Commander of Eastern Division – Sr. Supt. David Henderson was in court and commented that Raymond was arrested because he didn’t have a license for the gun – nothing more and nothing less.
