And while they are free from prison after being on remand since 2006, Charles Moss says he is in a place worse than jail. The 42 year old year old father of three has been paralysed since the shooting in 2006. Today he told us he is saddened at the outcome, but not bitter.

Charles Moss, Paralyzed in Shooting
“My reaction was really, I was kind of sad but the same time, for me it is not really all about these guys going to prison. If these guys had even gone to the prison, I would have been willing to exchange place with those guys right away. I would be willing to go to Kolbe Institution right now than to be in this situation. What they don’t realize is that this I am in by itself is a prison. I am believing in the Lord to deliver me from this prison because only he can do that.

I could never thought that a bullet had my name on it. And when that young man shot, basically as you guys know, I am paralyzed halfway and it changed everything to me. I have things like taking my daughters to the pool, taking them to Bacab – in so much ways, being at school meetings with my girls. So in many ways my life has been changed. Something I would really want to mention, I would want to speak to the young men out there. Whenever they pick up a gun to try and shoot somebody, I would really want them to think before they pull the trigger.”

Charles Moss stressed to us that he holds no ill will against Sheena Barrow or Sherlett Arnold – both of whom had been threatened. The former basketball player and coach is paralyzed because the bullet broke a rib, damaged a lung, and then severed his spinal cord.
