And while that driver is on the run, the driver who knocked down and killed a cyclist yesterday on the Northern Highway has been charged. Maurice Sedacy was riding his bicycle in Sandhill when he was fatally hit by a Dodge Ram pickup. Its driver Mark Conorque was travelling from Carmelita to Placencia with six passengers in his pickup. He says that between miles 19 and 20, Sedacy on his bike swerved into his lane and was hit. Sedacy received serious injuries and died on the scene.
Mark Conorque has been charged for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and driving without due care and attention. Magistrate Aretha Ford did not take a plea because the matter is indictable. Conorque was offered and met bail of $5,000. He is due back in court on September 7th. He was represented by attorney Michel Chebat.
