Two women were today charged in Magistrate’s Court with grievous harm. 19 year old Christy Mejia, a student at the University of Belize is accused biting off a piece of 30 year old Adelita Aranda’s chin. Aranda told police she was walking on Marigold Lane on Sunday morning around 11 when Mejia attacked her.
She claims that Mejia lashed her with a stick on the left side of her body and then bit off a piece of her chin. Aranda says she fought back and in return bit off a piece of Christy Mejia’s right ear. Both women pleaded not guilty today and were released on bail of two thousand dollars. They were both told not to interfere with each other and are due back in court on October 14th.
The argument that fuelled the confrontation was over a man.
