It was one of those robberies that was caught on camera, when two armed men stormed into the National Transport compound and robbed the business of twenty thousand dollars. That was on January 19th of this year and the whole nation saw the security footage but it wasn’t enough to get a conviction in court. Well, the man accused of the crime is a free man tonight.

22 year old Justin Maclaren was acquitted of the charge today in Magistrate’s Court. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie dismissed the charge due to insufficient evidence after she upheld a submission made by Maclaren’s attorney Dickie Bradley that Maclaren does not have a case to answer. Bradley did this after the prosecution called 5 witnesses.

None of the witnesses were able to identify the culprits because their faces were covered with masks. One witness said he only saw the gunman’s eyes when he picked up the money bag.
