A 4 year old boy was electrocuted yesterday. As we told you last night, Jovian Tillet – a student at Lloyd Coffin Pre-School was killed by an electrical shock at his home in the Lake Independence area around 4 pm. It is an unspeakable tragedy and one that was avoidable. Keith Swift found out why.
Keith Swift Reporting,
Today 4 year old Jovian Tillett’s socks and jeans pants were still on the clothesline in front of his home on MY Street. His grandmother told us off camera that yesterday the 4 year old tripped over a cord for the fan inside the house.
Voice of Grandmother,
“It looked like the electrical wire was hooked on his toe because it is on his toe because it burned his toe. He said he just left his little boy just five seconds to use the bathroom and when he came back he heard like something was knocking on the floor. So he hailed him, J.R., J.R., and he said that he said that he wasn’t answering so he got himself together and he

came out of the room and by the time he came out of the room he saw JR leaned over in a couching position.
So he asked him babes what happened to you and the little boy wasn’t answering. So he asked if his belly was hurting him and the boy wasn’t answering. So he went towards the little boy to ask the little boy if his belly was really hurting him. So when he touched the little boy he got shocked and so he let go the little boy and so then he plugged the wire out of the wall and that is when the little boy eased down on the floor and thing and so he decided then to call 911.”
But by the time the ambulance arrived on MY Street, 4 year old Jovian was dead. The family moved in the home two months ago. And though the house has a meter –on closer inspection you can see that, it’s not connected. That means that the wire that Jovian tripped on was live. The family maintains they found the illegal connection when they moved into the house.
Voice of Grandmother,
“They just moved into this house less than two months.”
Keith Swift,
“And they found the electrical connection?”
Voice of Grandmother,
“They find the connection there and they continued to use the connection.”
Keith Swift,
“I can only imagine how hard this is on the mother and the father.”
Voice of Grandmother,
“This is very hard because he said he honestly can’t take it. He can’t take it because it really hurts.”
Police say they are not contemplating filing criminal charges against the parents. He was their only child.
