70 year old Sylvia Hunter lives on Police Street Extension in the Lake Independence area. She is on the news tonight because she says the physical condition of her street and her neighbourhood is deplorable, unbearable, and unacceptable. The 70 year old who is still sprightly says she’s gone to the city council and her area representative and so today she turned to us.

Sylvia Hunter, Police Street Extension Resident
“The street is in a deplorable state and it seems nobody worries about it so I went to let Miss Pauline Jex call into the City Council and nobody from September and nobody appear up so that is why I came to you.

You came to see it yourself, the street is broke up, its muddy, sometimes it is infested with rats, a lot of the bush isn’t cut down, it causes a lot of rats and that is why I went to the Health Department. Then they have a lot of dogs the run around here.”

Keith Swift,
“You said there is no light at night?”

Sylvia Hunter,
“Yes and I have my prescription home. I could show you how I get sick and I had to go to Matron Roberts Health Center.”

Keith Swift,
“It is making you sick.”

Sylvia Hunter,
“Exactly and you can see the water there.”

Hunter says she is considering moving from the area because of the deplorable conditions.
