There were two more shootings in the city between last night and this morning. 20 year old Dwayne Sutherland says that last night after 7 he was walking on Logwood Street when a male person rode up next to him on a bicycle and fired a single shot. Sutherland was hit in the right upper side of his back. Sutherland fled from his attacker and ran into the La Popular Bakery where he collapsed. He was taken to the KHMH and admitted.
Police officers responded and chased down a male suspect on Dolphin Street who they observed throwing a silver and black Smith and Wesson Springfield brand.22 calibre rifle. It contained a magazine loaded with five live rounds. The suspect is a minor who has been charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
There was also a shooting this morning in Belize City. 33 year old Kirk Dougal says that at around 8:21 he was standing at the corner of Faber’s Road and Central American Boulevard when a gunman on a bike approached him and fired a single shot. The bullet hit Dougal on his left index finger. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment. Police are investigating both incidents.
