And while today’s event was a bank robbery, three weeks ago on Friday March eleventh, two men tried to steal the gun from a security guard at Atlantic Bank on Cemetery Road in Belize City. They got off with the gun, but the other armed security guard on duty opened fire on the escaping gunmen injuring one of them with a gunshot to the arm. Police intercepted the other, Tevin Abraham.

Today, that injured armed robber was finally well enough to go to court. He is 18 year old Tyrone Westby and he was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, keeping a firearm without a gun license and keeping ammunition without a gun license. He pleaded not guilty, but was denied bail because it is a firearm offence. He is remanded until May 18th. He joins his alleged accomplice Abraham, who was charged just after the robbery.

Court details show that the security guard was robbed of his 9 milimeter pistol containing 10 live rounds. Police recovered that weapon at the scene.
