41 year old Derrol Smith is from Pink's Alley, but while he comes from a rough area, he is no ruffian or bad man, in fact he is known as the neighborhood's cook. And he was certainly not worthy of the brutal beating that was put on him last night. We found him laid up at his Pink's Alley Home - where he could hardly speak. He said it all started after he'd had a few drinks with a friend downtown and then went to that friend's house. He decided to leave and that's when they ganged up on him.

"I said I am going through the door, he tells me why are you going through the door for? I said that I have to go home. So now when I was going to walk through the door they pull me from backwards and he told the next one to beat me in my face. When he finish beating me, the other one start beating me in my face again. Then they proceeded to rob me. When they finished beating me, I just passed out and when I got conscious I was in the police vehicle. All my money and everything they went with, I told them the money was for my light bill. I had also won the boledo, they took the money from that as well."
Smith knows who beat him and has passed that information unto police.
