Placencia is known to be a low crime tourist oriented village, but on Sunday night at 11:30, 24 year old Kentroy Paulino was shot to the leg in a night club called d'Eclipse. It seems to have been a wild gunfight as James Leslie allegedly fired a twelve gauge single action shotgun while Martin Galvez was seen with his licensed 9 millimeter pistol which he fired when a police man was trying to take it away from him.

41 year old Leslie - who carried four shotgun cartridges on him - was charged with "Dangerous Harm" and "Use of deadly means of harm" while 38 year old Galvez was charged with discharging a firearm in public.
