Police say that a tourist turned into a petty thief at a local hotel - and now instead of staying at a hotel, he's going to the Kolbe Inn.
Forty nine year old American national, Gregory Walp was charged with stealing a few bottles of beer and a soft drink from the office of the Red Hut Inn where he was staying. He pleaded guilty and was fined Three Thousand dollars today when he pleaded guilty in the #4 Magistrate court.
Magistrate Roberto Ordonez ordered him to pay the fine immediately or in default serve 3 years in prison. Walp was unable to pay the fine, and was taken to prison to begin serving his sentence.
The burglary occurred sometime between March 12th and March 13th. Thirty five year old Chen Yin Shieh, the owner of Red Hut Inn reported that her office was burglarized, and three bottles of Belikin beer and a bottle of Coca Cola were stolen. The beer and the coke have a combined total of value of $9.25.
