Twenty nine year old George Matthews Jr. known as "Pete", who allegedly fired shots at 36 year old Calvin Osman known as Pango, was charged with aggravated assault when he appeared yesterday in the Magistrate's Court. Matthews pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because the offence was committed with a firearm. She remanded him into custody until June 24. The incident occurred on Friday may 20. Osman reported to the police that Matthews came to his residence and fired several shots at him but missed. Based on the report by Osman, police detained Matthews the following day, Saturday may 21. The police so far have been unable to confirm that there is a link between that incident and a shooting on Antelope Street extension in which two persons were killed.
