A part of the quiet residential area of Belama Phase one is a crime scene tonight - after a taxi man was found dead inside his car this afternoon.
Our team is still on the scene - and we'll have some images for you later on in the newscast but here's what is known at this time.
The taxi-man who was in a dark purple Saturn, BC-D 6419 was found dead seated in the passenger seat with the engine running. He had been shot once behind the head. Neighbors heard a single shot around two this afternoon - but no one did anything until a neighbor called police at 5:15 because the engine was still running.
Monica Bodden spoke to Police just a few moments ago:
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer

"Police received information of an apparent shooting on Guzman Crescent, directly behind me. Upon arrival on the scene, sometime after 5, police found a lifeless body of a male, with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head. We have identified the body based on identification cards found on him. Unfortunately, we haven't informed the family as yet, so I will have to release his identity to you a little later. It's a taxi driver, and we are investigating. It's really early."
Jose Sanchez - Channel 5 News
"Are there any signs of robbery?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well we cannot say because we don't know what he had on him other than his wallet, and the cash inside."
Monica Bodden
"The neighbors heard any shots?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
"We are not certain if the neighbors heard anything, as yet, because we have just began this murder investigation."
Stacey Kelly, Amandala Newspaper
"Do you know how long the vehicle was sitting out here?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
"Not sure, we are not certain."
7news has confirmed that the family has been informed of the taxi man's death. He is 52 year old Charles Anthony Anderson of La Croix Street.
