A 31 year old man is fighting for his life tonight at the KHMH after he was stabbed last night. Leon Hinds was standing in front of 88 shopping center on Fabers Road - around 9 o'clock last night - when someone came up to him and stabbed him 3 times. Hinds received a stab wound to the right lung, middle of his chest and one to the left side of his neck - which doctors told his family is the most critical one.

Today 7news caught up with his family at the KHMH - who told us they strongly believe the young man was stabbed because of relationship problems he was having with his girlfriend.

"It was about 9:30pm last night, a lady came to my gate yelling for me and I when I came out she said 'your brother Hinds was badly stabbed and was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. So I called here at the hospital to inquire first because maybe it was just something superficial and he'd be OK, when I called I was inform that he was in critical condition, he was in the operating room and I try to ask more but they told me that they couldn't elaborate. I did ask on a scale about 1-5, like 5 being the worst how bad was he and I was told 4.5."

"At that time I ask my uncle to bring me here so I can see him to check on him but when I got here I couldn't see him because he was in the operating room from about 9:20 or so until after 12 this morning. I couldn't get any news but they told me that he was very critical and it didn't look good."

"I came back early this morning after 6 o' clock to check on him, when I came he was on life support and he just look really bad. I ask how he was doing and they said he was stabbed 3 times; one to the right lung; one to the middle of the chest below the ribcage and one to the left side for the neck which was the fatal one because it did hit a main artery. The doctor said that he look stable for now. I just went back in there and he is trying to breathe on his own, they took off the oxygen, but he is still critical."

"I've been trying to communicate with him with the blinking of the eye - blink one for yes and twice for no. I did ask him if he knows who did this to him and he blink once which is yes. I ask him if it was someone related to his girlfriend, he blink once again for yes. I ask him if it was her family member. He blinked once again for yes, so I ask if it was the girlfriend first and he shook his head no. When I ask about the family member he tried to do the nod yes, so I ask if it was the uncle, cousin or brother and he said no, I ask if it was someone related to her and he said yes and then he said it was her son. He mumbled it and we could clearly hear him say her oldest son."

"I saw him on Sunday, he came to visit me and we started talking and he mentioned to me that there was a dispute with her family members, he did not elaborate on which family members and I told him maybe you should go to your mom and your sister which is the oldest sister here. I gave him some money and he said he was going to the bus stop. A couple hours later he came back with the girlfriend and she inquires of me if he came to see me earlier and I said yes. You could tell there was a dispute going on because she mentioned stuff like 'did you tell your sister what happened,' and 'You better not play with me' and 'Don't mess with me' stuff like that. She was angry and he said 'no, I didn't tell my sister nothing' she said, 'well you better tell her,' with an attitude and she kind of just stormed off angry saying 'don't mess with me.'"

"Last night I saw her briefly and I tried to talk to her but she acted like she didn't remember me or she didn't know who I was and when I tried to talk to her again, she disappeared. That was the last time I saw of her. This morning however, I was told that she was working this morning because she does work in the kitchen here. She was here and when my family member was here earlier than I was, they saw her and when they wanted to talk to her she made like she was coming back buy she disappeared and when we went to her department (the kitchen area) to ask if she was here, they told us that she had left."

"One of the things that broke my heart is that he touch my aunt's hand and he ask us if he is going to live."

Leon Hinds was taken off the life support machine this morning, where doctors are monitoring his progress. His family told 7news, no one has been detained by police for the incident. Police have issued no report on the accident.
