As the old game show tagline goes: "there's no feud like a family feud" and the UDP seems to have one on their hands. It's not between Cabinet ministers but between one of the party's founders and one of its ranking ministers.
Dean Lindo has confirmed to 7news that he got a court ordered committal warrant served on Public Service minister John Saldivar on Monday. What for? Well, it's an outstanding debt which Saldivar owed to Lindo, a mere 1,500 dollars for money borrowed four years ago.
Now, as you may know, a committal warrant is to commit a person directly to prison - it is the last resort when all other means of legal pressure have failed.
But Saldivar didn't go to jail; instead, he paid up, promptly - which is what most folks with means do when faced with such a warrant.
According to Lindo, he had to give the police officer who served the warrant permission not to commit Saldivar after arrangements were worked out.
Lindo said it was a last resort, after he exhausted the legal process in trying to get his money back. He says Saldivar failed to show up in court when summoned, and Lindo got a ruling against him. We were unable to reach Saldivar for comment.
