The Gang Suppression Unit raided the home of a musician yesterday, and now he's facing charges of kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license.
Twenty four year old Emmerson "Paisa" Trapp, who resides at number 5 Antelope Street, appeared today in the number 5 Magistrate's court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Albert Hoare explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail due to the nature of the offences, and remanded him into custody until February 1st, 2012.
The GSU executed a search of Trapp's residence and reportedly found one 9 millimeter pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition under a mattress. Members of Trapp's family say that another person was in the house with Trapp at the time, and was detained, but not charged.
In other court news, a jury of 6 women and 3 men deliberated for about 4 hours today in the Supreme Court, and found a 24 year old woman not guilty of attempted murder, but guilty of use of deadly means of harm. Kaycia Fuller who was accused of stabbing another woman multiple times was given time to prepare a plea for mitigation by Justice Herbert Lord, who deferred sentencing until January 12, 2012.
The incident occurred around 9 P.M. on Friday, October 2nd, 2009 on Hibiscus Street in front of an apartment building. Judean Brown testified that she was stabbed several times with a knife by Fuller. According to the evidence Brown's sister and Fuller's mother were involved in a misunderstanding, and Brown intervened for her sister, while Fuller intervened for her mother.
Fuller testified and said that she was innocent and it was a case of self-defense because it was she who was attacked. Fuller was not represented by an Attorney. Crown Counsel Kaysha Grant represented the prosecution.
