A sweeping round of police promotions has already gone through but a group of concerned Sergeants are still saying they didn't get a fair shake.

On Monday, a group of 27 Sergeants signed unto a letter of complaints to the Security Services Commission questioning the procedure for the promotions.

They refer to a press release that government sent out in November saying that all 110 Sergeants would be interviewed by the promotion board before promotions to Isnpector are decided upon.

Sounded good on paper, except it never happened! But, regardless, on December first the Security Services Commission went right ahead and issued letters of promotion to thirty Sargeants - the same 30 that had been earlier approved for November until a controversy started to buzz.

And while they are now inspectors, these 27 Sergeants who were left behind are saying in the letter that they have been treated unfairly. They also point out that there are only 14 vacancies for Inspectors, though there are now 30 news Inspectors. The letter demands a reply within two weeks and advises that the aggrieved Sergeants will seek judicial review based on, quote, "illegality and irrationality."

We'll keep monitoring the situation.
