The Organization of American States announced YESTERDAY, that a Belizean Senator will head an Electoral Observation Mission tasked by the OAS to observe Parliamentary elections in Jamaica set for Thursday, December 29th. PUP Senator, Lisa Shoman is headed for Jamaica where she will meet with that country's Prime Minister Andrew Holness and election officials.

Shoman is also scheduled to hold interviews with political leaders and other stakeholders leading up to election day. Senator Shoman is currently a PUP Senator, and has served as Belize's Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the United States, Canada and the OAS. OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza designated Shoman as Chief of Mission. On her preliminary trip to Jamaica, she is expected "to hear different perspectives on the electoral processes in that country."
