The past four weekends in Belize City have witnessed explosions in gun violence - and this weekend it started early: at ten minutes after four on Mex Avenue on the southside of Belize City.
36 year old Edmund Panton had just dropped his mom at 21 Mex Avenue - and as she was getting out of the car, a gunman pulled up beside him on bicycle and shot him twice - once to the neck and once to the chest. He was rushed to the KHMH but died shortly after.
For his family, it is doubly tragic because Panton's older brother Dwight was killed almost exactly two weeks ago. The 38 year old was shot to the chest in a shootout in front of Elements nightclub and died hours later.
