Last night, 7News reported on the story of the exchange of gunfire between 22 year-old Al Young Jones and the police yesterday. Well today, Young, who was detained after he was released from KHMH, was taken to Magistrate's Court.

As we reported, around 10:00 a.m., a police patrol team saw a suspicious car on Mosul Street and tried to pull it over. But then the driver sped up and raced down Vernon Street into Magazine Road. According to reports that's where the passenger jumped out and police say he started firing at them.

Police returned fire and shot him in the shoulder. Police recovered a 9mm Glock pistol with (17) live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

That's when police detained his 19 year old brother Patrick "Pato" Jones who was allegedly also in the car.

Young was taken before Magistrate Hamilton this afternoon, where he was arraigned on 2 counts of aggravated assault against police officers, Dean Ferguson and Joel Marvin Grinage.

He was also arraigned for keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition for a 9 mm pistol, which was loaded with 16 live rounds. Police say that this weapon was found in his vehicle.

Young pleaded not guilty to all the charges, but due to the nature of the offences, he was remanded to prison until July 31.

His brother 'Pato' Jones has not been charged by police.
