As we told you on Monday, no one was murdered but there was a shooting incident last week Thursday.

According to police, 21 year-old Keon Johnson, aka Keon "Baba" Francis, reported that at around 9 p.m. last week Thursday, he was getting out of a pickup truck on Central American Boulevard when a man, who he knows as 21 year-old Norman McKenzie, approached him and shot him in the left foot.

Well, police began searching for McKenzie, and yesterday, they arrested and charged him with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and wounding.

But, that's far from where the story ends. The McKenzie family called us today to speak to us saying that's not how the incident took place, and that they are upset because police charged Norman McKenzie for something that he didn't do. Here's how they explained it:

Louise McKenzie - Mother of Accused

"At the time of the shooting, which they said was Thursday; my child was at home with me, at my house, at that time of 9 o'clock. According to reliable sources from top-ranking police officers, Keon shot himself. Family members met me and told me, 'Ms. McKenzie, Keon had a gun in his pocket, and when he exited the vehicle, the thing went off and shot him in the foot. Close friends of Keon told me that Keon shot himself. My proof is that my son was at home at time of the shooting, according to the police. It was Thursday, 9 p.m., June 28. I really want to know myself why he called Norman McKenzie's name for this shooting. Why did he call my son's name? I want really want to know what happened. To me, the police didn't do any kinds of investigation with my son. The thing came on the news on Monday night. Yesterday, they came and picked him right at the corner of the lane, and took him away. The picked him up like around 3:45, and when I went to the station, the police office said that they were going to charge him with attempt murder. I asked them why, and if they already did their investigation. They told us that it's what Keon said. I told them no, and that they had to pick up Keon and question him. My son was at home with me. My daughter, who is a police officer, was at home. My next daughter was at home. My son's girlfriend was also here. How comes they will charge him with attempt murder? Mr. Keon Johnson Francis, aka 'Baba', I have a message for you. The same bullet that you shoot your foot with, you should take that same gun and shoot yourself, because you know damn well and deep down in your heart, that Norman is innocent. I am not afraid of you Keon Johnson. I know how you like to tell lies."

McKenzie was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith this morning. She remanded him to prison because of the nature of the offenses.

He is to return on his next court date, which is set for August 13.
