Police continue to investigate a case of suspected arson in Orange Walk which ended up destroying one of their vehicles.
According to reports, the arson took place at 2:49 a.m. on Monday. The mechanic who was to repair the vehicle, reported that he was awakened by a loud bang in his yard, located in the Louisiana area of Orange Walk town.
He went outside, and saw the red Isuzu Rodeo, which is used by the Orange Walk Police's Quick Response Team, was completely on fire. He immediately called the authorities for help, but after a half-hour's attempt, the firefighters were unable to save the vehicle which was completely destroyed.
Police suspect arson because a lighter was found on the scene, along with a Sprite soft-drink bottle which had the strong odor of gasoline.
The vehicle was taken to the mechanic's house, 2 weeks ago, to fix the gas pump.
