Christmas is only a week away and everyone’s looking for that Christmas “come-up” – but, tonight our story is about a cop who went about it the wrong way and got busted.
Police Constable Dayton Sacasa the man guarding the “hold cell” at Precinct two, on Raccoon Street in Belize City was caught with money he allegedly extorted from two detainees.
It is alleged that this morning he told two men who were detained for drug possession that he could set them free for fifty dollars each. Well, it turns out that they would have been set free anyway due to a defect in the case. When they found that out, they went to the Professional Standards Branch and reported that they were induced to bribe Sacassa.
Police detained Sacasa immediately and he was searched on spot. Police found one hundred and one dollars on him – 100 of which they believe was from the extortion.
Sacasa has since been arrested and charged with Extortion and was reportedly arraigned this evening.
