A man was stabbed by his friend at a Father's Day celebration last night. 45 year old Carrington Bodden was at a Bar-B-Que when he and his friend Sanjay Pilgrim got into a fight at the corner of Kelly Street and Freetown Road. In the scuffle, Bodden was stabbed to the chest. We spoke to Bodden's family this morning and they told us that it was just a bad mix of a heated misunderstanding and too much alcohol.

"Yesterday I had a little Father's Day event going on - eat and drinks and thing. But then everything was going fine through the course of the day and in the evening going to 12 midnight. Pilgrim started to trip on his woman telling her to sleep outside. I told him to relax himself and get off of that."
"My brother was in the yard. They usually have simple conversations when they are high. Pilgrim gave me money to buy 4 stout at the shop up the street, because the shop here was already closed. This was after 12 midnight. When I came back with the stout I met my brother on his way by the stop light. He ask me for the bike. He told me that he got stab in his chest. I got off the bike and gave it to him. By the time he reached the lane he fell from off the bike. Right away we pick him and got him into a vehicle. While in the vehicle I saw his eye turning up. I didn't know he got a stab to the heart."

"I don't know what time he was killed. I think around 10-12pm. I sleep at the house right there. Every evening they walk together at friendship."

"I don't know. It looks like an altercation went on between my sister and her common-law-husband who is Sanjay Pilgrim. But she didn't come to me and explained to me and tell me what was going on with those two. So, it looks like "Ice" was protecting her or something, because then we were in the yard when the altercation happened and I came out of the yard. When I came out I saw Sanjay ran back in the yard and came out back with a machete and a knife and just ran pass in front of me. I thought he was going to chop the man, but he didn't. He fires a chop at him, but it look like he changed his mind and he pulled out a knife and stab him."
"At that moment I didn't believe it was a stab he got. I thought he got a push. I saw my friend "Ice" walk back through the alley (didn't tell me anything). He went through the alley and stayed a little while and then came back out. He passed me and I ask if he was alright. He didn't answer me. He and I hang out here every day. He is a good person to me. I don't know why my brother-in-law had to stab "Ice"? Because "Ice" didn't come to him in a violent way. He just wanted peace and to me it's like he intentionally mean to stab him, because it was right inform of me. He could have stab me too."
According to family members they both grew up together and were very close friends. The police department held a press conference this morning to discuss the murder and told us what they have so far.

"On Sunday 21st June 2015, around 10:40pm police personnel responded to a report of a stabbing victim at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Upon their arrival they met Carrington Bodden, 43 years old with a single stab wound to the right side of the chest. Shortly thereafter he was pronounced dead at the KHMH. We have commenced an investigation. We have on person in custody and we are doing further work and at the end of the investigation a file will be completed and we will determine if any charges will be levied on anyone."
Bodden had no kids.
