A man is very lucky to be alive after a bullet grazed his chest. On Sunday afternoon 33 year old Jose Gonzalez was at his neighbor's house - the Hyde Estate on the Young Bank road in Camalote. A fight broke out between Gonzalez and another man there, and that's when someone else stepped in and shot him. Courtney Weatherburne went west to find out what started this Camalote commotion.

A neighborly visit turned into a frightening encounter for Young Bank resident Jose Gonzalez.
It happened at the Hyde's mansion on the hill. Gonzalez told us off camera that it all started with a misunderstanding between him and one of Hyde's guests.

"I was coming from Cayo and actually I just went there because my old boy was up there and when I reach there a black boy who was up there started the thing then."

"So this other guy who was up there, he started to tell you things? He started to insult you?"
Voice of: Jose Gonzalez
"Offend me, offend me and I didn't like that he offend me you understand."
"I get vex, I done get vex because he is already throwing phrase at me so that is how it started and we fight and I punched him, and right there the war start."
That is when another man allegedly stepped in with his 9 mm pistol and shot Gonzalez in the chest - trying to protect the other guy.

"The man grab the gun and the man say I will shoot you, I didn't expect the man to shoot me, I thought he was playing but when I see BOW! He shoot me and then I drop down and my old man start to wrestle him."

"Yes because he crank the gun again for shoot me again but my dad wrestle with him and at the minute everybody just start to move around and heard that they shoot me and they took me to the hospital you understand."
After Gonzalez was hit, he tumbled down the hill and injured his hand and legs. Fortunately, the bullet just grazed him. He was treated and released from the hospital last night. While Gonzalez is grateful to be alive, he fears this may not be the end of it.

"With this case you fear your life right? You think they will come back for you?"

"Yes well I don't want them to come back and deal with me actually I want the police to take that over or try do something about that. Because if they don't do anything, well I have feelings yes…."

"And you still shock because you guys are neighbors and you know him and his dad for very long?"
Voice of: Jose Gonzalez
"Yes and I don't know why he did that, that is what I am worrying about, why did he do that, why he shoot me, why didn't he try hold me down or something without shoot me. He know me long time, he know my dad, he know my sister, everybody."
Police have a suspect detained and he is expected to be charged tomorrow. We will keep following this case.
