On Friday we showed you the brazen armed robbery at New Fortune Restaurant on East Collet Canal, Belize City which was all caught on camera. Well today two persons- 19 year old Sherwin Santos and a 15 year old minor- appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser where they were formally charged for armed robbery.

"Police arrested two persons for that robbery. One is Sherwin Santos, a twenty-year-old Belizean from King Street and a minor for the crime of robbery."

"There were three culprits. Are you looking for another suspect?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, we have analyzed the footage, however, we have a difficulty identifying the third person because of the manner the person was dressed. But we are still looking to see if we can identify that person in the video, the third one. The tendency right now that these robbers are using is that they go by group. One person sometimes goes before and then the rest goes in to see how the business looks and thereafter they robbed. These are the things the business owners really have to pay attention to."
Santos pleaded not guilty while the minor pleaded guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Fraser told the minor that she cannot sentence him until she receives a social inquiry report. In the meanwhile, she remanded Santos and the minor to Belize Central Prison until September 7.
The thieves made off with $700 dollars.
