There was another murder in Belize City this morning, the second in 4 days, and tonight, the family of the victim, 22 year-old Emerson Talbert, are in mourning.
Talbert, a resident of Racecourse Street, was hanging out right around the block, at his friend's house on Cemetery Lane. They were playing video games into the early morning, but, at around 12:45 a.m., a gunman barged into the yard, and in through the front door, squarely took aim at Talbert, and shot him in the neck. He was rushed to the KHMH for medical treatment, and the doctors initially managed to stabilize him.
Unfortunately, his health deteriorated drastically, and at around 10:15 a.m. today, he died. His family declined comment, but today at the bi-weekly police press conference, the head of CIB in Belize City, told the press what they know so far:

"The latest homicide we had last night. Sometime just after midnight Mr. Emmerson Talbert, a 25 year old Belizean of 67 Racecourse Street was at a friend's house located at 33 Cemetery Lane. Whilst playing video games with other friends a male person entered from the front door and fired a single shot at his direction. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition. Unfortunately he succumb to his injuries this morning sometime after 10 in the morning."

"He was at another person's house around the corner from his house. So was he the intended target?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Our investigation is pointing that he was the intended target."
Reporter
"So far do you all know the source of the dispute that may have led to this targeting?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"There is a possibility that we are looking at this moment, but it is in very young stage. I cannot give you the exact information. He has had running to the police before."
Reporter
"Suspect?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We do not have any suspect at this time."
Reporter
"The other person who he was visiting. Is that owner of the home cooperating with investigators?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We have spoken to the 2 persons that were inside of the residents at the time of the shooting and have gathered a little bit of information from them."
We approached his family for an interview, and they told us that the news of his murder is very fresh, and so, they are unable to comment at this time.
