Tonight - Belize is coming to grips with the worst multiple road fatality we’ve ever reported on - 7 dead - but before we get into that, sadly, there is one more to report - and again it involves tourists. A Belize City vehicle with taxi license plates carrying a number of cruise tourists flipped between miles 42 and 43 on the Phillip Goldson Highway this afternoon around 3:30. Â
Pictures show that airbags in the vehicle were deployed, but it appears that one woman - a cruise tourist - who did not have on a seatbelt was flung to the pavement where she died. Her family could be seen consoling each other on the roadside. Â
A terrible scene and we tried to speak to the driver, tour guide Henry Gillett via phone but he said he’s in a lot of pain in the hospital. We’ll have more on this tomorrow.
