Police also had an update on Christian Novelo. He's the "Scratch and Win" employee who was charged for theft after he allegedly made up a story of being car jacked and robbed of 29,000 dollars of his employer's money.

Today, Romero told us it seems he made it up:

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero - Deputy, NCIB
"Investigation revealed that he had made up this report, as a result he was charged for the crime of theft and the sum of 8 thousand dollars has been recovered in regards to this report that he made."

Reporter
"In the false report, it was said that his vehicle was stolen. Have investigators able to locate that pickup truck?"

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero
"The investigation is still ongoing at this time as we are seeking other person in regards to this investigation. At this time, only he has been charged but the investigation is ongoing and we have information that other persons in other vehicles were involved in this incident."

26 year old Novelo was arraigned in Orange Walk Magistrate's Court late this evening on a single count of theft. Novelo appeared before Magistrate Patricia Arana in the Orange Walk Magistrate's Court where he was represented by attorney, Leeroy Banner. Â

He was read a single charge of theft for stealing $8,670 in cash from Lucky Dolla Company, a Scratch Lottery operation based in Orange Walk.

Novelo pleaded not guilty and since there was no objection to bail by the court prosecutor, he was offered bail of $4,000 plus one surety of the same.

But police were not finished with Novelo, and before he could post bail at the close of the day, he was slapped with another charge for a mischievous act.

Since it was so late, Novelo remains in police custody and is expected to be arraign first thing in the morning on the new charge.
