You've heard the S.OE. rules about the mingling of households and the 10 people limit on social gatherings, but does everyone take them seriously enough?

We've told you how those rules became all too real for a group of partygoers on Aloe Vera Street last week when they were caught attending a Birthday celebration - with 3 of them being COVID positive.

It's revelry that ended in detention and a quarantine that took them far from the Belize City.

Here's a recap of their ordeal from their attorney Dickie Bradley:

Dickie Bradley, Attorney-At-Law
"They took advantage of technology to say to the world that they were taken down to the police station at Racoon street. The situation is that they informed me that for that weekend from the incident happened up until the Sunday of that weekend they were in police custody and then they were secreted out of the police station and taken to San Ignacio to be quarantined. They were quietly secretly moved one because they were told by the police that they went to put everything on the media, which is their right."

"So what happens is they were in quarantine, they were tested and god be praised everybody proved to be negative and so that having happened over the weekend thanks to the intervention of the officer in charge of the whole Cayo police formation, I think he's superintendent Jemmott he had sought to be of assistance in having them be taken to the San Ignacio police station where he had given a directive that they were to be given what is called a station bail."

"They were eventually released by the San Ignacio police on each person signing a bail with of course a backup surety for the police. This morning they were arraigned, but the magistrate was very... it's a pity that your journalist didn't take a nice picture of the magistrate. She was fully protected in terms of gloves and mask and her clothing and so she look like an awesome figure on the bench, but she was very kind hearted, she gave them a bail of $800. I guess she probably took into account the fact that they were basically lost their freedom from the 4th September until presently missing out St. George's Caye in the process. So they will be out for the 21st September."

As you heard the group was granted bail of $800.00, they are due back in court on November 16, 2020.
