And when Akeem Tillett was killed, another man was caught in that same orange orchard off the Coastal Road. Law enforcement questioned him on the spot and captured it on camera. He made certain allegations about guard collusion in the escape - that, in the estimation of this newsroom, could certainly put his life at risk.
Though the video was widely circulated via WhatsApp, we took the editorial decision not to air it.
Today the COMPOL condemned the manner in which the video was taken and those who aired it:
Cherisse Halsall
"Sir in that leaked video yesterday, one of the prisoners named an officer that would have been involved in what he described as an inside job. He named that officer as an officer McKoy, is that officer detained?"

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"Cherisse, I don't even know if I am supposed to address that despicable video. From an investigative standpoint, that video have no credence. How will you ask a man who you may have guns pointed at him, severely under duress if he is giving an interview voluntarily. I don't know but we are not going to give any credence to that video and again these are things that the media need to be very careful of. Often times members of the security forces leak things to the media that is not for public consumption and the media recognises that it is not for public consumption but yet they put it out in the public. For what? I think we need to do better. What transpired there was very unprofessional, unethical and should be condemned to its fullest."
Reporter
"That directly puts his life in danger, will you be having a conversation with the CEO and the administration at the prison to offer that particular individual additional protection any at all?"
Chester Williams
"Well I don't think it puts his life at risk, the fact that I am saying here now that from an investigative standpoint, we're not giving any credence to that video. So, I do not anticipate that the prison officers are going to take offence to what has been said in that video and if it is that they do and they do something to harm that individual or to take his life, then they are going to be in the position he is in now and they should know that."
Reporter
"I was speaking specifically of inmates and that culture in the prison, not particularly of the guards any at all."
Chester Williams
"I don't know if it's much about inmates, what I saw in the video was more in terms of indicting prison officers, so I don't foresee him having an issue."
