Tonight, David Gonzalez, the 32-year-old resident of San Pedro who was charged with the murder of his wife, 28-year-old Marisela Gonzalez, is at the Belize Central Prison.
Gonzalez was arraigned today before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett on the single indictable offense, for which there is no bail. He has been remanded into custody until his next court date, December 16th. He allegedly killed her with a gunshot, then disposed of her body at the town dumpsite. The couple shared a young child.
It is a ghastly unthinkable end - especially at the hands of a spouse.
But, will there be "Justice for Marisela" - the phrase that has almost become a movement?
Today, the Commissioner of police didn't want to go into too much derails - but he said there has been a documented history of abuse in the relationship:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I'm not going to speak to the content of the charge. I am sure that if there weren't sufficient evidence to charge, then we would not have levied charge against the husband but may I say that there is multitude of reports that the husband has been abusive to the now deceased wife and the police investigation unearthed certain things and it was based on that, that the police eventually laid charges against him. The act is an outrageous one, unfortunately no matter what is done will not return the deceased wife and people do have a right to voice their opinion or concern and to call what they believe is right and I would want to join them in saying that, we must get justice for the deceased wife and from the police standpoint, we are going to do what we can. We already started by making an arrest and I can tell you that the arrest was not made due to public pressure but it was made because of the fact that we do have evidence and as the time progresses, the police investigation does not stop, they continue to investigate."
