Earlier in the month, we told you about the tragic death of the 3-month-old baby whose mother accidentally suffocated him during an epilepsy attack.

And while the death of such a young child seemed to be the stuff of nightmares it was made even more tragic this morning when that baby's father crashed and died in the vehicle he had borrowed for his son's funeral. I traveled to Ladyville this morning to find out more about the circumstances surrounding the crash and the grief its victim experienced in his final days.

This was the state of Ken Faber's borrowed Hyundai this morning after the Seaweed Salesman crashed into a brick wall near Sky City complex in Ladyville.

His death was a shock to his family including his child's mother, sisters, and nephew but it's also deeply affected Vicenta Myles, the woman who spent 7 years at his side. This morning she told us how much he'd struggled after the death of his child.

Vicenta Myles, Ex-Common Law

"His sister told me that his cousin lent him the vehicle to take care of the funeral and he's supposed to take back the car but she said he never did but I think he couldn't take it because he came to me Monday night and he said, he was standing right there by the table and my gentleman was in the chair, they knew one another, we didn't have a problem, and he said V I don't know where I am, I don't know where my heart is beating. I said can you explain to me how you feel? And he said V I don't know and I felt sorry for him. As a mother of 12 kids I know how it feels to lose a loved one and it was his first child."

"And he said I don't know who net and he turned to me and then he said I don't know how I will deal with this so I guess he just went drinking and lost control, it's sad but I don't know."

Myles says that the tragic loss of Faber's child also had a lasting effect on her too, because he had asked her to be the boy's caregiver.

Cherisse Halsall:
"So now when his child died, how did that affect him, what did he say to you?"

Vicenta Myles, Ex-Common Law
"Well, first he asked me to help him take care of the child and then I accepted but because I guess I moved on he had a problem with bringing the child over because he know that I always, I am a grandmother and I take care of my grandkids and so I said yes. I knew the condition of the mother and I didn't want that to cause a problem."

"I said you have to provide for yourself and the baby so try to get the child in safe and I guess he was only trying but he failed again and it just happened."

And this morning, with a heavy heart, she reflected on the man that Kenny Faber was and what he'd once meant to her and her family.

Vicenta Myles, Ex-Common Law
"He was that special person who used to be a loving and caring person to somewhat, he was a very good provider and he was there for me when I needed him most even though there was a bad part because he had a drinking problem and we had tried to get past that and I guess he failed."

"When I needed him he was just that person who was always there with me and he was my grandkids as a good supporter to somewhat and he did his best, that's the part that I can say."

Faber and his son are survived by the child's mother.
