And while the killings have no easy solution - an arrest has been made for a high profile crime last week.
On Monday's newscast, we told you about 22-year-old Jeffrey Contreras, the Belize City resident who police charged in connection with last week's senseless murder of 57-year-old Sean Menzies. Police believed that he was the accomplice, and tonight they are getting ready to arraign the person who they identified as the gunman who actually pulled the trigger.
That person is a 16-year-old male minor who lives in the same general area as the victim. Reports reaching our newsroom are that police have formally arrested and charged the 16-year-old with the crime of murder.
Today, the commissioner discussed his frustration with what he called gun toddlers:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Now I want to say that in respect to the murder of Mr. Menzies, we now have the other suspect in custody who happens to be a 16-year-old. Now these are the

people who people would normally say leave my picnic' (child) alone and that 16-year-old is expected to be charged today with murder along with another individual who had been charged for abetment before, that person's charge will be upgraded to murder as well, as well as when it comes to the shooting at Mr. Charles Young yesterday, one of the suspects is also a minor, 15-years-old, so, you see the type of persons we are dealing with. Children I would normally refer to them as gun toddlers."
SEAN MENZIES FUNERAL WAS HELD TODAY.
