And while this officer will spend some time behind bars, the police are also investigating a former PUP municipal level political candidate after he reportedly knocked a man off of his motorcycle on December 30.

The incident occurred in Belmopan while the victim, Oscar Chavarria, was at a pedestrian ramp. He was badly injured, and later reportedly blamed by the driver that it was his fault for stopping so suddenly. But there are also reports that the car was not even insured at the time.

While ACP Myvett did not confirm this, he told us he is aware of the reports and the police are looking into it.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head NCIB
"What we know so far that this is an accident that had occurred on the 30th of December last year which remains under investigation, and it is that the victim was traveling on East Ring Road I believe and he had slowed his motorbike on a pedestrian ramp and that is when a vehicle collided into the rear of his motorcycle. Both drivers were served with NIP's. Yes I am aware of the allegation that the vehicle was not insured and based on the queries given this morning I requested those officers to addressed the said queries."
