And while ACP Myvette covered all his bases on the case of officer Teul, the Commissioner also weighed in and spoke on recent police misconduct ranging from assault to drug trafficking.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We have seen over the past few months a number of criminal behavior on behalf of some officers. We have some who were arrested for large quantity of drugs and it is a part of our effort to go after those officers who we know are involved in different illegal activities. The public is clamoring for a more professional police department. We have a minister who is working with us doing his best to see how we can make the department more professional and so as a department we need to do differently. We need to ensure that we hold officers accountable for their wrong doing. What PC Teul did in Succotz was utterly wrong. He violated that young woman without her consent and she made a report and he must be dealt with. Some have the tendency of saying that as the commissioner I like to cover the wrongdoing of police officers, but I want to make it emphatically clear once a police officer is wrong with me, they are wrong. I am not going to condone no wrongdoing because when we do so we do not make our department better, we do not make our officers better. We will only become better and become a more reputable department when we hold people accountable for the wrong that they have done."
