And now that the curfew has been adjusted many are fearful of a natural spike in violence in those 8:00 to 10:00 hours. We put the question to Commissioner Williams earlier today.

Chester Williams- Police Commissioner

"We as a department have our strategy in place and I think this week we are going to release the crime-fighting strategy and we are going to outline how we intend to police the country for the next two years. And within it we have mechanism to be able to address gang violence and we are going to apply those. The truth is that the whole issue surrounding gangs have been here for quite some time now and we don't expect it to go away overnight but we are going to do our best to ensure that we can limit gang activity in this country. So for those who have their list and who need to dead and this and that we will do what we can to ensure that we do. But remember that the police alone cannot stop crime. Crime is an issue that must be dealt with multisectoral and while police would normally address the effects of crime there are other organizations who are tasked with addressing the symptoms of crime or what causes crime. And we are going to ensure that under our new crime-fighting strategy we tap into those organizations to see what they can do to help us from a social-economic standpoint. We believe that once we do that we should have a tremendous reduction coming the end of this year."
