In other court news, a mother of 6 is in jail tonight for handling stolen goods after she was found with a tablet that was taken during a burglary at Sadie Vernon Technical High School over a week ago. 30-year-old Sherisa Reneau, a cook from Southside Belize City, was arraigned in the Magistrate's Court at midday today. According to the allegations against her, the police visited her home on Sunday and conducted a search which yielded the tablet. Reneau was unrepresented in court and pleaded not guilty to the charge, saying that she bought the tablet from a man. She has since been unable to identify him to the police, however, prompting the cops to charge her instead. She told Magistrate Stephanie Gillet that she did not know the tablet was stolen, since it was sold to her in a box. Still, the Magistrate remanded her to three weeks in the Belize Central Prison. She will reappear in court on February 19.
