Police including the K9 Unit made an unusually large cocaine bust in Corozal this morning. It happened at about 10:00 during a search of 20-year-old Edwin Catzim's Libertad home. Nothing was found in the home, but a wider search of the yard caused one K9 officer to sniff something suspicious inside a green Mazda Pick up truck.
Police found 7 parcels of cocaine in the vehicle's left rear light, and 6 parcels in the vehicle's right rear light.
Those parcels weighed in at a combined 30 pounds, an amount that at current street value would fetch $380,000.00 or a third of a million dollars. Such cocaine quantities are usually bound for Mexico.
When questioned Catzim told the cops that the truck belongs to his brother 33-year-old Estuardo Marvin Rodriguez. Rodriguez later arrived handed over the vehicle key and admitted to being its owner. He was subsequently charged for drug trafficking.
