And while activity in the COVID unit has ground to a halt, the emergency ward has been busy with trauma cases in the past 24 hours.
34-year old Percival Pilgrim is in a critical condition tonight after he was fired upon while walking on Banak Street this afternoon at 2:30.
Pilgrim and a friend were headed toward the Lakeview area when they were approached by two men who shot at them.
And while Pilgrim's friend was only grazed, he was shot to the head, and left for dead in the middle of the street. Here's more from the shooting's chaotic scene this afternoon in Belize City.
Police have detained three Banak street women and one man for questioning in relation to this shooting. All four persons are said to reside in the yard from which Pilgrim's assailants emerged. There are rival gangs at close proximity in this area.
