Minutes before the start of our evening newscast, the Ministry of Health and Wellness sent out a press release to refute the allegations raised in the Chad Dietrich's letter.
Their statement says, quote, "In the letter, the said Caribbean Motors states that the bidding process was not followed in the procurement of six (6) vehicles for the Ministry of Health and Wellness. This is a false statement that was intentionally made to undermine and to cause public disdain.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness through the Project Management Unit obtained seven quotations from different companies. Thereafter, the quotes were evaluated and recommendations made to the Ministry of Finance who had no objection to the award of contract.
The Ministry of Health & Wellness has followed all prescribed procedures in relation to the procurement process. It is unfortunate that Caribbean Motors, who has been the beneficiary of Government contracts would seek to defame the MOHW and denigrate a small Belizean business in this manner." End Quote.
